Why Bob Warby? Bob is unique in coaching circles, as he centres his sessions entirely around the goalkeepers needs. This is unique because many other "goalkeeper coaches" put sessions on that centre around them, they may not realise it but by watching you can clearly see their influence over the training drills. Bob applies a different way of thinking and has adapted the teachings that he has received on the coach education courses he's attended with the FA, the Scottish FA and also the Welsh FA, as well as the vast experience gained from his playing days and has moulded these ideas into his own personal brand of goalkeeper coaching. For example, all drills reflect match required skills and nearly always include the striking of a moving ball to truly replicate what can happen during a game. Bob feels that it is insufficient to make the training predictable by always striking a still ball, which is arguably the preferred method of many top goalkeeper coaches, but by working with moving footballs the goalkeeper can develop the most important technique of all.....decision making. Development is Bob's priority and each session is designed to improved the goalkeepers knowledge of the position and techniques required to become number one. Bob is the Head of Goalkeeper Development for Boston United FC, Director of Coaching for Pilgrim Goalkeeper Coaching and also a goalkeeper scout for Ipswich Town FC. He has also been involved with goalkeepers at Stoke City FC, Grimsby Town FC, Hearts of Midlothian FC, Rushden and Diamonds FC, Wrexham FC, Carlisle United FC and Bristol Rovers FC. Through his freelance coaching he is kept busy with many semi-professional goalkeepers looking to improve their game under his expert guidance and regularly works for several local grass roots charter standard football clubs who value their players development and outsource some aspects of their coaching modules. Bob has designed and implement a Goalkeeper Syllabus for both Boston United and Grimsby Town's Football League Centre of Excellence systems, and has also self produced goalkeeping manuals and a Pre Match Warm Up DVD.
